RES Chosen as O&M Provider for Callagheen Wind Farm in Northern Ireland

, a subsidiary of Iberdrola, has selected to provide operation and maintenance (O&M) services for the Callagheen Wind Farm in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. This three-year contract involves managing the O&M operations for the 17-megawatt (MW) site, which comprises of 13 Siemens turbines.

With more than 40 operational wind farms generating over 3 gigawatts (GW) of electricity, Renewables is a prominent player in the renewable energy sector. The partnership between RES and ScottishPower Renewables continues to strengthen, following RES securing an O&M contract in 2022 to conduct remedial repairs on the heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) unit at the East Anglia 1 substation near Ipswich.

RES has been entrusted with various projects by ScottishPower Renewables in the past. In 2020, RES was awarded both the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract and the O&M contract for the 50 MW Gorman Energy Storage plant situated near Stackallan, County Meath in the Republic of Ireland. Additionally, RES recently secured a contract with Ailes Marines, a subsidiary wholly owned by Iberdrola, to provide O&M services for the substation at the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm in France.

Simon Deacon, Operations and Maintenance Director UK&I at RES, expressed confidence in their O&M team, supported by their warehouse and workshop facilities in Letterkenny, to enhance the operational efficiency of the Callagheen Wind Farm. Deacon believes this collaboration will ultimately contribute to the improved delivery of clean energy.

Joe Mitchell, Head of Operations at ScottishPower Renewables, expressed satisfaction in appointing RES as the O&M provider for Callagheen Wind Farm. With the wind farm's construction dating back to 2006, Mitchell emphasized the importance of partnering with RES to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the renewable energy asset, which has been producing clean energy for 17 years.

The partnership between RES and ScottishPower Renewables showcases their commitment to advancing the renewable energy industry, supporting the continued growth of wind power, and contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable future.
