Ocean Winds and Ignitis Group have been affected by an outage impacting around half of the capacity at the 882MW Moray West offshore wind farm off north-east Scotland.
According to newly filed project accounts, the disruption involves one of the wind farm’s two offshore substations and has been ongoing since November. Repair work is understood to be continuing.
The accounts also reveal the sponsors are in discussions with lenders after missing a contractual milestone linked to an unnamed offtake agreement last September.
“This delay in achieving the contractual milestone represents an event of default under the project lending agreements,” the filing said.
“The lending agreement specified that the default could be cured by the Company declaring commercial operations under an agreed PPA within an initial cure period which has now expired.
“The Company and Lenders have agreed a short-term waiver to extend the cure period and are currently in discussions for a further extension.”
The discussions with lenders were described in the accounts as “constructive”, with an expectation that the waiver will be granted.
Commercial operations at the wind farm, originally expected last year, are now anticipated to begin in 2026, the filing added.
Ocean Winds has been contacted for comment.
