Repsol increased its renewable generation capacity in 2025 after commissioning 2,200MW of new wind and solar projects across Spain, the United States and Chile, the company said.
Adjusted net income from its low-carbon generation division rose to €53 million, up €77 million from 2024, supported by higher wind and solar output and a stronger contribution from combined cycle gas assets.
Repsol said that since entering the renewables sector in 2018 it has rotated more than 3,000MW of operational wind and solar assets, bringing in partners to crystallise value in Spain and the United States.
In Spain, the company added Schroders Greencoat as a partner in a 400MW wind and solar portfolio. In the United States, it agreed to incorporate Stonepeak into two solar portfolios with capacities of 777MW and 629MW.
Repsol is also preparing a 1,600MW hybridisation project in Aragon, combining 805MW of wind capacity with the 818MW Escatrón combined cycle plant, aimed at supplying power to a future data centre.
In renewable fuels, the company continued construction of its second renewable fuels plant in Puertollano, which is scheduled to begin operations in 2026 with annual production capacity of 200,000 tonnes.
It also announced plans to invest more than €800 million in the Ecoplanta project in Tarragona, expected to produce 240,000 tonnes of renewable and circular methanol per year from 2029.
Repsol said it had taken final investment decisions on two 100MW renewable hydrogen electrolyser projects in Cartagena and Bilbao, designed to provide lower-carbon feedstock for its industrial operations.
Across the group, adjusted net income reached €2.568 billion in 2025, while net income stood at €1.899 billion in a year characterised by lower Brent crude prices and continued market volatility.
