Renewable developer Origis Energy has completed and commissioned its three Swift Air Solar facilities in Texas, providing power support for Occidental Petroleum operations in West Texas.
The company said the phased development was finalised in late 2025 and represents more than $650 million of infrastructure investment across Ector County and the wider West Texas region.
Origis added that the solar assets will also help supply energy to Occidental’s STRATOS direct air capture facility, a major carbon removal project in the Permian Basin.
“We are proud of our partnership with Occidental, an industry leader with unparalleled technical depth and a long track-record of innovation,” said Vikas Anand, chief executive officer of Origis Energy.
“Oxy’s STRATOS facility is a leading example of infrastructure that America needs to secure its energy ambitions for the 21st century,” he stated.
He added: “And, the Swift Air 500 MWdc facilities are an example of Origis Energy’s strengths of expertise, innovation and reliable execution.”
Joe Lavoy, vice president at Oxy Low Carbon Ventures, said the additional renewable capacity would support regional energy demand.
“New power facilities are essential to unlock the full potential of the Permian Basin’s resources,” he said.
“Collaborating with Origis Energy to secure power from these new purpose-built solar facilities further positions us to help meet growing energy needs, while also serving to help advance large scale Direct Air Capture technology.”
