Hellenic Cables has secured a contract from DEME to supply inter-array cables for Ocean Winds’ 390-megawatt BC-Wind offshore project in the Polish Baltic Sea.
Under the agreement, Hellenic Cables will handle the design, engineering, manufacturing, testing and delivery of about 70 km of 66 kV inter-array submarine cables, including spares, as well as associated cable accessories.
Production will take place at the company’s facility in Corinth, Greece, with manufacturing expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
Philip Scheers, general manager cables at DEME, highlighted the partners’ track record. “DEME and Hellenic Cables have consistently demonstrated effective collaboration across multiple offshore wind projects. We anticipate that our shared expertise and commitment to excellence will lead to a safe and successful execution of the BC-Wind project,” he said.
Hellenic Cables General Manager Kostas Savvakis said the award underscores the company’s capabilities.
“Our collaboration with DEME and Ocean Winds on the BC-Wind project reflects our proven capability to deliver high-quality cable solutions, supporting the energy transition in the Baltic region,” Savvakis said.
BC-Wind Project Director at Ocean Winds Pete Geddes said the contract marks further progress for the development.
“The selection of Hellenic Cables for the inter-array cables package marks another important milestone for the BC-Wind project as we progress through the construction phase,” Geddes said.
“Their proven expertise in delivering high-quality submarine cable systems, combined with our close cooperation with DEME, will be key to ensuring the reliable and timely execution of this offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea.”
