Siltronic has recently announced a significant development in its sustainable energy strategy. The company has entered into a long-term power purchase agreement with Axpo Solutions, a provider of renewable energy solutions. Under this agreement, which will come into effect at the beginning of next year and span a duration of 10 years, Siltronic will secure a substantial portion of its electricity needs from solar energy sources in Germany.
By leveraging this partnership, Siltronic aims to meet nearly 20% of its electricity requirements in Germany. The agreement entails an annual contract volume of 60 gigawatt-hours, which is equivalent to the energy consumption of approximately 20,000 households. The adoption of solar energy is expected to yield notable environmental benefits, with the reduction of approximately 25,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions per year.
Siltronic will be sourcing the solar energy from established solar parks located throughout Germany. The electricity generated from these renewable sources will be specifically utilized at Siltronic's production sites in Freiberg and Burghausen.
This strategic move highlights Siltronic's commitment to sustainability and aligns with the global efforts to transition towards renewable energy solutions. By incorporating solar power into its operations, Siltronic not only reinforces its position as an environmentally responsible company but also contributes to the overall reduction of carbon emissions in the energy sector.
The long-term power purchase agreement with Axpo Solutions signifies a positive step forward for Siltronic in their pursuit of cleaner and more sustainable practices. This initiative sets an encouraging precedent for other companies within the industry and serves as a testament to the growing importance of renewable energy sources in the corporate landscape.
