TotalEnergies will supply Airbus with renewable electricity for major sites in Germany and the UK under two clean firm power contracts, delivering a combined 3.3TWh into the next decade.
The agreements will be supported by 200MW of new renewable capacity and are expected to provide baseload power covering around half of the electricity needs of the Airbus facilities from 2027.
Stéphane Michel, president of gas, renewables and power at TotalEnergies, said the deals build on last year’s sustainable aviation fuel partnership between the companies and demonstrate TotalEnergies’ ability to deliver turnkey solutions across multiple geographies.
He added that the contracts rely on an integrated portfolio of renewable and flexible assets and will contribute positively to the profitability of TotalEnergies’ electricity business.
Florent Massou dit Labaquère, EVP of operations for Airbus’ commercial aircraft business, said the PPAs reflect a long-term commitment to decarbonising the company’s sites.
“These agreements will help Airbus secure reliable low-carbon energy, supporting our goal to increase renewable electricity across our sites,” he said.
“Complementing our existing collaboration with TotalEnergies to scale SAF production capabilities, these PPAs are part of our holistic approach to build resilience in our operations.”
TotalEnergies said the Airbus contracts add to a growing roster of global clean power supply deals with technology and industrial customers.
The company currently has more than 32GW of installed renewable capacity worldwide and is targeting 35GW by the end of 2025.
