Solar Insure has launched SI Commercial, a new insurance-backed warranty product designed for commercial solar installations of up to 2 megawatts DC, as it seeks to address risk management challenges in the growing renewable energy sector.
The SI Commercial warranty provides up to 30 years of coverage for solar panels and 20 years for inverters, including parts and labour. The product is structured to reflect the longer operating lifecycles, more complex ownership structures and higher risk profiles typically associated with commercial-scale solar projects. It also includes protection against manufacturer default, backed by an AM Best A+ rated insurance carrier, Solar Insure said.
Alongside the product launch, Solar Insure expanded its Approved Vendor List for commercial systems to include Chint Power Systems, Hoymiles, SMA, SolarEdge, Solis, AP Systems, and Enphase. The additions broaden equipment choice for installers while maintaining qualification standards linked to durability and long-term serviceability.
Solar Insure said the SI Commercial offering is intended to help installers shift long-tail service obligations and manufacturer risk off their balance sheets, streamline warranty administration and present commercial solar assets as more finance-ready to lenders and investors.
The launch comes as commercial solar plays an increasingly important role in the renewable energy transition, with businesses and institutions deploying larger on-site systems to reduce energy costs, cut emissions and meet sustainability targets. By combining extended equipment coverage with insurance backing, Solar Insure aims to reduce uncertainty for asset owners and support wider adoption of commercial solar projects.
