European Energy has inaugurated a hybrid energy park in Kvosted, Denmark, combining an existing utility-scale solar plant with a 200MWh battery system, the company said.
The facility, which has been supplying power since December 2025, is Northern Europe’s largest operational solar-plus-storage project, according to European Energy.
The battery allows solar electricity to be stored and dispatched during periods of lower generation, while also providing flexibility services that reduce curtailment and exposure to negative power prices.
European Energy said the addition of storage strengthens asset economics by expanding revenue streams and improving long-term investment resilience.
“By integrating battery storage into the existing solar park in Kvosted, the project has been transformed into a hybrid asset with greater operational flexibility and a broader revenue base,” chief executive Knud Erik Andersen said.
Hybridisation through storage is becoming increasingly important as power systems with high shares of wind and solar require more flexibility.
European Energy added that it has a battery development pipeline exceeding 12GW across multiple markets.
