Renewable energy developer Enfinity Global has begun commercial operations at a 33-megawatt AC solar power plant in Italy under its portfolio of power purchase agreements with Microsoft, the company said.
The project is the first to enter service under a broader collaboration covering up to 366 MW AC of renewable capacity, with additional plants currently under construction, Enfinity added.
The partnership is designed to support Microsoft’s sustainability targets while delivering local investment and employment across several Italian regions, including Lazio, Emilia-Romagna and Basilicata.
“We are delighted to provide solar energy electricity to a global technology leader like Microsoft,” said Carlos Domenech, chief executive of Enfinity Global.
“At Enfinity Global, our mission is to provide our global and local customers with reliable, value-added renewable energy solutions while we serve as a responsible member of the communities where we operate our power plants,” he added.
Enfinity said it continues to expand its presence in Italy’s corporate power purchase agreement market, having contracted 808 MW of solar capacity over the past two years with corporate and industrial customers.
