Titan Wind Energy has signed its largest contract to date for welding and handling equipment, awarding the deal to ESAB for its new monopile manufacturing facility in Cuxhaven, the company said.
The agreement covers automated submerged arc welding (SAW) lines, heavy-duty manipulators and digitally controlled welding systems equipped with real-time process monitoring. Titan Wind Energy said the package is designed to support a rapid ramp-up of production while ensuring consistent quality for 14-metre-class monopiles.
“ESAB’s high-automation welding and handling systems are tailored to the specific challenges of 14-metre-class monopiles,” Heiko Mützelburg said in a statement. “They will help us to ramp up quickly, stabilize quality from day one and deliver the volumes the offshore market urgently needs.”
The Cuxhaven facility is intended to supply large-scale foundations as offshore wind projects move toward bigger turbines and heavier structures. Titan Wind Energy said the new equipment will help meet rising demand by increasing throughput and reducing production bottlenecks.
Antonio Leon said the partnership reflects broader changes in the offshore wind sector. “Offshore wind foundations are becoming larger and heavier at an unprecedented speed,” he said. “By combining high-capacity SAW technologies, advanced process control and robust manipulation equipment, we are partnering with Titan to address the technical challenges of the new generation of monopile manufacturing.”
Titan Wind Energy added that the highly automated systems will create a scalable and data-rich production environment, aimed at improving efficiency across the offshore wind supply chain.
