Japan’s Denzai and Denmark-based Global Wind Service (GWS) have formed a strategic partnership aimed at supporting the development of Japan’s offshore wind sector, the companies said.
The collaboration brings together Denzai’s transport, crane and heavy-lift capabilities with GWS’s experience in providing wind turbine technicians, with the aim of delivering integrated services across turbine pre-assembly, installation and maintenance.
GWS said the partnership is intended to offer offshore wind developers and turbine manufacturers a single solution covering multiple phases of offshore wind projects in Japan, a market that is still at an early stage compared with Europe.
“Through this partnership, by combining GWS’s global experience in installation and maintenance with DENZAI’s technical capabilities and project execution expertise in the heavy electrical and large-scale infrastructure sectors cultivated both in Japan and internationally, we will contribute to the sound and sustainable development of Japan’s offshore wind market,” Denzai President and Chief Executive Kohki Uemura said.
Global Wind Service Chief Executive Michael Høj Olsen said the agreement leverages complementary strengths. “By combining DENZAI’s local knowledge & logistical capabilities with GWS’s technical knowledge for offshore installation and service of wind turbine generators, we are able to offer an integrated package that delivers real value for offshore wind developers and OEMs,” he said.
Japan has identified offshore wind as a key pillar of its energy transition, with the government targeting significant capacity growth over the coming decades. The companies did not disclose financial details of the partnership.
