Chinese turbine manufacturer Ming Yang has secured a 1,500-megawatt contract from Emirates Utility Development Company for the SPPC R6 DWD Wind Project in Saudi Arabia, the company said.
The project, located in the Dawadmi area of Riyadh Province, will feature 142 turbines designed to withstand high temperatures and dust, tailored to local Middle East conditions to optimise wind energy production, Ming Yang said.
The agreement aligns with Saudi Arabia’s plan to generate 50% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030.
Ming Yang said it would continue providing customised clean energy solutions for the region. “The machines are tailored to Middle East resource conditions to support efficient development of local wind resources,” the company added, highlighting its commitment to supporting the kingdom’s green transition.
