Nexans has been selected by ScottishPower Renewables to provide 66-kilovolt accessories for the East Anglia THREE offshore wind farm, the company said.
The project is located around 69 kilometres off the Suffolk coast, with an onshore cable route connecting to a converter station in Bramford. Nexans said it was chosen for its technical capabilities, engineering expertise, and integrated project approach.
“The East Anglia project represents a critical step forward for the UK’s offshore wind ambitions,” said Elyette Roux, executive vice president for power-grid and accessories at Nexans.
Pedro Fernandez, East Anglia THREE project director at ScottishPower Renewables, said the development would play an important role in the UK’s clean energy targets. “EA3 will be a vital part of the UK’s climate ambitions, providing clean, green electricity to over 1.3 million homes,” he said.
Nexans’ 66 kV components will be used to support electrical performance and grid integration across the East Anglia THREE wind farm.
