Enel has acquired two onshore wind farms in Germany with a combined installed capacity of 51 megawatts, the Italian energy group said, marking its first significant purchase of operating renewable assets in the country.
The company said the transaction has an enterprise value of about 80 million euros ($86 million) and is expected to contribute roughly 10 million euros a year to ordinary earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA).
Revenue from the wind farms will be supported by a feed-in premium scheme, under which the plants receive guaranteed minimum remuneration if wholesale power prices fall below a predefined level, Enel said.
The acquisition forms part of Enel’s broader expansion strategy in Germany, which it described as a key market for renewables investment due to its stable regulatory framework and economic conditions.
“According to Enel, the German market is central to its expansion strategy, offering regulatory and macroeconomic stability and incentive mechanisms for renewable energy sources,” the company said.
Enel did not disclose the location of the wind farms or the identity of the seller.
