Rosslare Europort has submitted a planning application to An Coimisiún Pleanála for what it describes as Ireland’s largest port infrastructure project dedicated to supporting offshore renewable energy developments in the Irish and Celtic Seas.
The port authority said the proposed investment is intended to serve as a catalyst for a Southeast Harbour offshore renewable energy (ORE) economic region, aimed at creating jobs, stimulating local economic activity and supporting Ireland’s future energy independence.
Rosslare Europort added that it recently completed the country’s second-largest civil construction project “on budget and on time,” and said it intends to deliver the planned development to similar standards.
“The project will act as a catalyst for a Southeast Harbour ORE Economic Region that will create jobs, drive economic activity and enable future green energy independence,” the port said in its statement.
