Iberdrola’s offshore substation for its 315-megawatt Windanker wind farm in the German Baltic Sea has been dispatched for installation following completion of the topside and jacket foundation, the company said on Thursday.
The 4,500-tonne Jasmund topside left HSM Offshore Energy’s Stormpolder yard and traveled through central Rotterdam, while the jacket was transported from Smulders’ Vlissingen yard. Both structures are set to be installed by Heerma Marine Contractors northeast of Rugen Island.
The substation, with a planned capacity of 300 MW, will connect the under-construction Windanker wind farm to the onshore grid.
This marks the first of three topsides being delivered for German transmission operator 50Hertz as part of the Ostwind 3 and OST-6-1 grid expansion projects, supporting the country’s ongoing offshore wind development efforts.
