GE Vernova has agreed to provide 42 of its 6MW–158m onshore wind turbines for Greenvolt Power’s Gurbanesti wind farm in Romania’s Calarasi county, the company said on Thursday.
The contract follows an earlier agreement to deliver 42 turbines for Greenvolt’s Ialomita wind farm, with the two projects expected to produce a combined 500MW to support Romania’s 2030 renewable energy targets. GE Vernova said the Gurbanesti order was booked in the fourth quarter of 2025, with turbine deliveries scheduled to begin in 2026.
Greenvolt said the projects will expand its wind portfolio across Europe, create several hundred full-time jobs during peak construction and generate enough electricity to power more than 110,000 Romanian homes annually.
Gilan Sabatier, chief commercial officer for GE Vernova’s onshore wind business in international markets, said the company welcomed the opportunity to deepen its work with Greenvolt. “We are pleased to once again support Greenvolt as they work to bring online more renewable energy in Romania and across the globe,” he said. “Paired with our earlier announcement about supporting a similar sized Romanian wind farm, today’s announcement reinforces the value our workhorse turbines can create for customers in Romania and across Europe.”
