RWE has secured contracts for difference (CfDs) for four renewable energy projects totalling 68MW in Italy’s latest FER-X auction, the company said on Thursday.
The Serra Giannina wind farm in Basilicata will comprise six turbines with a combined capacity of 42MW. In Campania, two ground-mounted solar plants — Ponte Valentino 1 and Ponte Valentino 2 — will add 17.65MWac, while the 8MWac Carcitella agri-PV project will be developed in Sicily.
Construction of all four projects is scheduled to begin in 2026.
Katja Wunschel, chief executive of RWE Renewables Europe and Australia, said the results marked an important step for the company in Italy. “This auction success is a fantastic milestone,” she said. “Besides further solar projects it includes our 20th onshore wind farm in Italy.”
Wunschel added that the company aims to support national clean energy goals. “We are proud to further support the country’s ambitious expansion goals,” she stated. “Looking ahead to upcoming auctions, aligning auction values with real technology costs will be key to unlocking even more capacity and accelerating Italy’s energy transition.”
