Zelestra has secured 60 megawatts of new solar capacity across eight projects in Italy’s FER X auction, the Italian energy agency GSE confirmed on 1 December 2025. Around 80% of the projects are located in northern Italy.
The company said all eight plants are expected to be operational by the end of the first half of 2028. Italy remains a key growth market for Zelestra, which holds a pipeline of more than 1.4 gigawatts of battery energy storage systems (BESS) and solar projects, and recently signed an initial offtake agreement for a 2-gigawatt-hour BESS project in the north of the country.
“It has been a year of fast progress in Italy for Zelestra, and the FER X success means we are also finishing 2025 on a high,” said Eliano Russo, Zelestra’s country manager in Italy. He added: “The new projects build on the two solar plants we are already constructing in Puglia and Sicily, broadens our geographical footprint into the Peninsula, and complements our multi-technology approach.”
