Renewable energy developer Nadara has taken full ownership of four Scottish floating wind projects after completing a deal to acquire partner BlueFloat Energy’s 50% stake in the portfolio.
The transfer, covering the Bellrock (1.8 GW), Broadshore (900 MW), Sinclair (100 MW) and Scaraben (100 MW) schemes, follows reports earlier this year that BlueFloat’s parent, Quantum Capital Group, had moved to wind down the Spain-based company’s operations.
Nadara said the acquisition underscores its intention to advance the projects through the ScotWind and INTOG leasing rounds. The company said the buyout “demonstrated its ongoing commitment to bring the ScotWind and INTOG schemes online by the mid-2030s,” adding that consolidating ownership would support streamlined development planning.
The 2.9-gigawatt portfolio had been held in a joint venture until BlueFloat’s exit. The separate 1.5-GW Stromar floating wind project will remain under its existing ownership structure, with Nadara, BlueFloat Energy and Ørsted each retaining a one-third share.
Nadara said the purchase reflects its confidence in the long-term potential of floating offshore wind in Scottish waters.
