CS Wind Offshore has completed the delivery of the final transition pieces from its Port of Aalborg production site for Dominion Energy’s Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project, the company said on Tuesday.
The load-out campaign, which began in April 2024 with the first six units, was completed efficiently and without incidents, according to CS Wind Offshore. The firm said the steel plates used would stretch 38 km if laid end to end, and a total of 211 km of cable was installed through the transition pieces.
Each transition piece stands 26.6 metres tall, and stacked together, they would reach 4,681.6 metres, the company noted. CS Wind Offshore said the project represents its largest scope to date, delivered on time and to high quality standards.
“It has been a privilege to collaborate with Dominion Energy and their designer, Ramboll, as well as our dedicated internal team,” CS Wind Offshore Vice President for Project, Transition Pieces Soren Uhrenholt Hermansen said.
Hermansen added: “It is remarkable to reflect on what we have accomplished together since signing the contract four years ago. I am deeply impressed by the achievements we have made during this period, and I now wish our client every success as they approach the final stretch toward operation.”
