BW Ideol Projects Company has acquired a 15% equity stake in Eoliennes Mediterranee Grand Large, the developer of the 250-megawatt Mediterranee Grand Large floating offshore wind farm, the companies said on Tuesday.
The investment follows several years of collaboration among BW Ideol, EDF Power Solutions, and Maple Power on floating foundation studies for French offshore wind tenders. The partners said the deal strengthens the project’s industrial foundation and marks a new stage in their technological partnership.
The project, awarded under France’s sixth offshore wind tender in December 2024, is located 25 kilometres off the Mediterranean coast and is expected to supply electricity to nearly 450,000 people. EDF Power Solutions and Maple Power will select the floater technology, with BW Ideol providing its floating wind expertise to support the project through construction.
“We are pleased to welcome BW Ideol Projects Company as a new shareholder,” EDF Power Solutions Director of Marine Renewable Energy France Aymeric Ducrocq said. “This equity investment highlights the strength of the project and the growing maturity of the floating offshore wind sector in France.”
Maple Power President George Walley added: “We welcome BW Ideol Projects Company as a shareholder of Eoliennes Mediterranee Grand Large.”
BW Ideol Projects Company President Paul de la Gueriviere said: “We are delighted to expand our collaboration with EDF Power Solutions and Maple Power by becoming a shareholder of Eoliennes Mediterranee Grand Large. With over 15 years of experience across multiple projects, we are well positioned to help ensure the successful development of this initiative.”
