Smulders has completed the first load-out and departure of transition pieces for Equinor and Polenergia’s Baltyk 2 and Baltyk 3 offshore wind projects in the Baltic Sea, the company said.
The components left Smulders’ yard in Hoboken at the end of October and were transported to Vlissingen in the Netherlands, where they will be stored until installation begins.
Smulders and Sif are jointly producing 100 transition pieces for the two projects, which have a combined planned capacity of 1.4 gigawatts. Both wind farms are expected to enter full commercial operation in 2028.
Smulders said the milestone marks steady progress in the delivery of components for the Polish offshore wind sector. “The TPs departed from Smulders’ Hoboken yard at the end of October and were transported to Vlissingen, where they will be stored ahead of their upcoming installation,” the company said.
