Fugro has completed geotechnical site investigations for the eastern array of the Dogger Bank South offshore wind project, a 3-gigawatt development led by RWE and Masdar off England’s east coast.
The company deployed five survey vessels to collect samples from depths of up to 50 metres below the seabed. The data will inform foundation design for planned turbine and platform locations. The surveys began in May at sites situated more than 122 kilometres off the north-east English coast.
According to the developers, work has now shifted to laboratory testing and analysis. The results will be used to guide engineering decisions as the project progresses. “The developers said work had now moved to laboratory testing and the reporting phase to process the data ahead of making design decisions,” the statement noted.
A consent decision for the project is expected in mid-January. If approved, construction could begin between 2026 and 2027, following a final investment decision.
