Nordex Group has received a new order from long-term customer SSE to supply and install seven wind turbines for two projects in Spain’s Aragón region, with a combined capacity of 42 MW.
The contract covers the 19 MW Minguez and 23 MW Portalrubio wind farms near Teruel, which will feature Nordex’s N163 turbines from the Delta4000 series. Four turbines will use the N163/5.X variant on 116-metre towers, while three will employ the N163/6.X variant on 119-metre towers.
Nordex will also provide a 20-year premium service agreement to support operational reliability and optimize energy output over the life of the turbines.
“The towers, blades and nacelles for the wind farms will be manufactured in Spain, reinforcing Nordex’s commitment to its European supply chain excellence,” the company said. Both projects are located less than three hours from Nordex’s Barásoain factory and will be serviced by its Zaragoza hub.
Francisco Cejudo, director of sales Spain at Nordex Group, said: “We are delighted to continue our successful collaboration with SSE and to contribute to Aragón’s leadership in renewable energy. Our advanced turbine technology positions us as a key partner for the region’s ambitious wind energy targets.”
The order extends Nordex’s collaboration with SSE in Spain following the near completion of the 64 MW Jubera wind farm. Aragón continues to be one of Spain’s most active regions for wind energy development, with multiple new projects planned in the coming years.
