R.Power has started building its 55MWp Lazuri Solar Park in Satu Mare County, Romania, the company said, marking a further expansion of its renewable energy portfolio in the country.
The project, developed by NOMAD Electric, was awarded a 15-year Contract for Difference by Romanian authorities. It will connect to the national grid via a new 110kV substation linked to the Vetiș–Abator transmission line.
The plant is expected to generate around 70 GWh annually, sufficient to power more than 48,000 households, while reducing carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 17,000 tonnes per year, R.Power said.
Przemek Pieta, CEO and co-founder of R.Power, said: “The start of construction of the Lazuri solar farm highlights our commitment to expanding operations in Romania, which is one of our key markets. Alongside Lazuri, we are developing additional photovoltaic and energy storage (BESS) projects there, strengthening R.Power’s position as a leading energy producer in Europe.”
R.Power added that its growing portfolio in Romania aligns with the country’s decarbonisation and energy independence objectives.
