UK-based renewable energy developer OnPath Energy has appointed Andrew Robertson as general counsel, reinforcing its senior leadership team as the company pursues further growth across its onshore wind portfolio.

Robertson, who has more than two decades of legal experience, will lead OnPath’s legal department and oversee corporate, operational and project-related matters, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.

“The role of general counsel can make a significant difference to the operational and commercial success of a business, and this is particularly so in the case of an agile, ambitious company like OnPath Energy,” Robertson said. “OnPath Energy has a clear growth strategy in place with a strong team working to deliver on it, which makes it an exciting time to be joining such a progressive business.”

A native of Sunderland, Robertson studied law at Durham University and began his career with Dickinson Dees. He later worked at Hargreaves Services, where he supported large-scale clean energy and infrastructure projects, before joining Essar to advise on its UK energy transition. Most recently, he served as legal director at the Disclosure & Barring Service.

OnPath chief executive Richard Dunkley said the appointment brings valuable expertise to the company’s leadership. “Andrew brings a substantial range of relevant skills, knowledge and experience to his new role, all of which combine to make him a very strong addition to our senior team,” Dunkley said.

OnPath Energy currently operates 12 onshore wind farms across Scotland and England, with three more under construction. The company is backed by Canada-based Brookfield Asset Management.
