Longitude has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sinotech Engineering Consultants to collaborate on offshore wind design and marine operations engineering projects in Taiwan and across the wider Asia Pacific region, the companies said on Thursday.
The partnership will combine Longitude’s global offshore wind engineering expertise with Sinotech’s local experience, as both firms seek to expand their services in one of Asia’s fastest-growing renewable energy markets.
“With Taiwan targeting 15.5GW of offshore wind power by 2035, the market needs a competitive landscape and progressive design solutions to achieve these goals profitably, especially as projects move into deeper waters,” said Jan Erik Berg, Longitude’s Global Director for Offshore Wind Design. “Together with Sinotech, Longitude combines local expertise and capacity to explore joint opportunities and provide a broader, in-country offering to support clients.”
Sinotech Associate Vice President Alan Chiou said the agreement “is an exciting partnership for Taiwanese and Asia Pacific offshore wind.” He added: “Through this MoU, we will integrate Sinotech’s strong in-country track record with Longitude’s global capability and experience in offshore wind design and marine operations engineering. Together we can provide an exciting alternative to the current market landscape, with the same client focus that we are both known for.”
Longitude, part of Oslo-listed ABL Group ASA, provides engineering and design services for foundation design, subsea cable engineering, and jack-up operations for offshore wind installation projects. Its Asia Pacific operations are headquartered in Singapore, with additional offices in Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Australia.
The MoU comes as Taiwan accelerates its offshore wind expansion to meet net-zero targets and attract international expertise for large-scale developments in deeper waters.
