Rosslare Europort has received a draft foreshore licence, marking a significant step forward in the development of Ireland's National Offshore Renewable Hub.
The issuance of the draft licence will enable the completion of final site investigations and create a pathway for the timely submission of a planning application. This progress is crucial to ensuring that the facility becomes operational in order to meet the requirements of the successful bidders in the ORESS-1 auctions.
The establishment of the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Hub entails a substantial investment of €220 million. This initiative aims to provide the necessary port infrastructure to support numerous wind farm projects planned for the Irish and Celtic Seas.
Glenn Carr, Director of Commercial Business Units at Iarnród Éireann and Port Authority for Rosslare Europort, expressed his congratulations to all involved in Ireland's inaugural offshore wind auction. He emphasized that the four successful wind farms can now move forward with their projects, knowing that Rosslare Europort is diligently advancing its plans to establish a dedicated offshore renewables hub.
Carr further stated, “We have already made significant progress in our development plans, including major infrastructure upgrades at Rosslare Europort. This ensures that we are fully prepared to support the construction of offshore assets for these Phase One projects.”
