Collett & Sons has opened a new specialist warehouse for power distribution equipment in Sherburn in Elmet, North Yorkshire, in collaboration with transformer manufacturer Wilson Power Solutions.
The 2,735-square-metre facility, fully leased by Wilson Power Solutions, is designed to handle and store transformers and related high-value equipment. It features two internal bays equipped with 5 to 20-tonne overhead gantry cranes, four 6-metre by 5-metre drive-in roller shutter doors, and a 5-metre hook-to-floor clearance, allowing for the handling of oversized cargo.
Collett, which operates across five UK sites, said the addition brings its total storage footprint to over 48,500 square metres, enhancing its integrated logistics services for the power distribution sector.
“The warehouse acquisition is another example of Collett’s ongoing investment to support our growth,” said Mick Harland, sales director at Collett. “It also allows us to better support our valued customer, Wilson Power Solutions, by providing fully coordinated transport and storage solutions.”
Wilson Power Solutions said the partnership supports its operational efficiency and project delivery. “Partnering with Collett on this facility gives us the confidence that our transformers are in safe hands,” said Jake Young, head of operations at Wilson Power Solutions. “Their experience in specialist warehousing makes day-to-day operations smooth and efficient and this collaboration strengthens our ability to deliver on time, every time.”
The site includes external storage, 24-hour CCTV monitoring and environmentally conscious design features. Collett also manages daily transport between Wilson Power’s main facility and the Sherburn warehouse, coordinating logistics and heavy-lift operations.
Company representatives, including Collett directors Sam Collett and Mick Harland, and Wilson Power’s Jake Young and marketing manager Marek Skibinski, attended the facility’s launch.
Collett said the new warehouse further supports its strategy to offer integrated heavy-lift, storage and transport solutions for out-of-gauge and high-value cargo.
