British energy technology company Arenko has begun international deployment of its AI-driven Nimbus software, expanding operations to battery energy storage sites in the United States, Germany and Ireland.
The expansion follows a £9 million capital raise earlier in the year and marks a key step in Arenko’s strategy to scale its optimisation platform beyond the UK market.
Nimbus, developed in-house by Arenko, supports real-time decision-making and system optimisation for battery storage operators. The platform processes roughly five billion data points daily and is designed to enhance operational efficiency, grid stability and asset returns.
The company said the technology has delivered average EBITDA improvements of approximately 21% for site owners, while also reducing capital and operational expenditures.
The latest rollout includes three sites in Texas — Sweetwater, Snyder and Westover — with a combined capacity of 30 megawatts. Additional deployments include the 22MW Cremzow battery project in Germany and two storage assets in Ireland.
“This expansion is a pivotal moment for Arenko,” said Rupert Newland, founder and chief executive of Arenko. “Built and proven in the UK, one of the world’s most advanced and volatile energy markets, we are now taking our proven expertise to the global stage.”
Newland added, “Our mission is to provide the digital backbone for the zero-carbon grid. By partnering with asset owners in North America and Europe, we are delivering tangible improvements in grid stability, renewable energy profitability, and the overall pace of the energy transition.”
Founded in the UK, Arenko’s software supports several global energy operators including RWE, Ørsted, Vattenfall, ElectroRoute and Gore Street Energy Storage Fund.
The move highlights growing international demand for advanced digital infrastructure in the battery storage sector as countries seek to accelerate their transition to low-carbon energy systems.
