GE Vernova has signed an agreement to supply, install and commission 42 onshore wind turbines for Greenvolt International Power’s Ialomita wind project in Romania, the companies said on Tuesday.
The wind farm will utilise GE Vernova’s 6.1MW–158 metre rotor turbines, delivering a total installed capacity of approximately 252 megawatts. Once operational, the project is expected to be among the largest onshore wind farms in Romania.
Turbine deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2026, following the project’s contract booking in the third quarter of 2025, GE Vernova said.
“The Ialomita wind farm will generate enough electricity to power more than 110,000 homes and businesses annually,” the company stated, adding that the project will contribute to Romania’s renewable energy objectives for 2030.
Gilan Sabatier, chief commercial officer for GE Vernova’s onshore wind business in international markets, said the agreement highlights Greenvolt’s confidence in GE’s technology and teams.
“This agreement reflects Greenvolt’s trust in our people and technology,” Sabatier said. “It also reinforces the value of our workhorse product strategy and ability to support customers in Romania and across Europe.”
GE Vernova’s onshore wind division has installed approximately 57,000 turbines globally, representing close to 120 gigawatts of capacity.
