German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex has signed agreements to deliver turbines with a combined capacity of 189 megawatts (MW) for two wind energy projects in Ukraine, the company said on Monday.
The order, placed by Ukrainian developer OKKO Group, includes 32 of Nordex’s N163/5.X turbines. Each of the two wind farms will have a total capacity of 94.4MW and will be located in western Ukraine.
The turbines are cold climate models designed for challenging weather conditions and will be installed on 125-metre tubular steel towers. Delivery of equipment is scheduled to begin in mid-2026.
The agreements also include long-term service contracts for a duration of 20 years.
“These orders mark a significant step in Ukraine’s energy transition and reinforce our commitment to supporting renewable development even in complex environments,” Nordex said in a statement.
Despite ongoing geopolitical and economic challenges, Ukraine continues to pursue its renewable energy ambitions, with wind and solar seen as key components of the country’s long-term energy strategy.
