Australian resources and energy group Fortescue has acquired Spanish wind technology firm Nabrawind Technologies, aiming to accelerate the global rollout of tall wind tower systems that support large-scale renewable energy projects.
The deal builds on a collaboration launched in 2023 and aligns with Fortescue’s Real Zero strategy, which targets the development of a cost-competitive, around-the-clock clean energy system.
Nabrawind’s patented Nabralift technology enables wind turbines to be installed at greater heights without the need for large cranes, improving energy yield and lowering installation costs—particularly in complex or remote environments.
“This integration allows the company to project its technology to an unmatched global scale, accelerating the transition to cleaner energy under the umbrella of a world leader,” said Eneko Sanz, CEO of Nabrawind.
Fortescue said the acquisition will provide Nabrawind with increased financial stability, project execution capacity, and access to a global development pipeline. The company did not disclose the financial terms of the transaction.
Sodena, a public investment agency in Navarre and early backer of Nabrawind, welcomed the deal. “The acquisition demonstrates the growth and value creation of an innovative Navarrese company in a sector that is strategic for Navarre,” said Iñaki Larraya, director at Sodena.
Founded in 2015, Nabrawind has completed projects across Africa, Europe and Australia. The acquisition coincides with the company’s 10th anniversary.
