Energy and infrastructure group Global has rebranded from Global Energy Group and begun construction on a new 2,000-square-metre headquarters in Inverness, as it targets a significant increase in turnover to £500 million by 2028.
The rebrand, which coincides with the company’s 20th anniversary, consolidates several of its operating divisions — including Global Port Services, Global Crane Services, Global Wind Projects, Global Infrastructure, and Global Power Services (formerly Approved Power Services) — under a unified identity. Portfolio companies such as Apollo, Aventus Energy, Bracewell, Capstone Construction, and Cammach will continue to operate under their existing names.
The restructuring follows the sale of the Port of Nigg and the group’s fabrication and scaffold operations. According to the company, these changes mark a strategic shift towards becoming a more focused partner in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
“We are really excited to share our new brand and vision which sets our course for the next five years,” said Roy MacGregor, chairman of Global. “With a new, future-focused brand and a hybrid investor/operator model, with a people- and technology-led solutions provision, we are confident we will nearly double our turnover within three years.”
Global currently employs around 2,000 people across its services and investment portfolio. The company previously operated under GEG Capital.
The hybrid model, Global said, will enable greater integration between consultancy, construction, and recruitment services, while aiming to enhance its position in the energy and utilities markets.
The new headquarters, located at the Inverness Campus Freeport zone, will house up to 50 additional staff and co-locate a number of its business units, including Global Infrastructure, Global Power Services, recruitment subsidiaries such as Global Highland, Chance Recruitment, Be Personnel, and consultancy Arthian. The building is scheduled for completion by autumn 2026.
Designed by architect David Lawrie of Bracewell and to be built by group firm Capstone Construction, the headquarters is part of a wider growth plan, which includes organic expansion and further acquisitions.
“The move to our new, purpose-built office will support the group’s ambitious growth strategy,” MacGregor said. “I think the level of investment in our new HQ sends a strong message to the market that through enhanced collaboration, acquisition and maximising of synergies across our portfolio, we will continue to unlock new opportunities within the green energy and utilities sectors.”
The group has acquired eight companies over the past 18 months, reinforcing its strategy to expand its footprint in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
