Semco Maritime and PTSC Mechanical & Construction (PTSC M&C) have been awarded an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the offshore substation of the 495-megawatt Formosa 4 offshore wind project in Taiwan, the companies said on Monday.
The contract, signed with developer Synera Renewable Energy (SRE), covers the full EPC scope for the substation’s jacket and topside, with final delivery scheduled by the end of 2027.
Under the agreement, Denmark-based Semco Maritime will lead the engineering, procurement, and commissioning of the medium-voltage/high-voltage (MV/HV) electrical and auxiliary platform systems. Engineering support will be provided by ISC Consulting Engineers. PTSC M&C, based in Vietnam, will be responsible for the jacket construction, equipment procurement, and topside fabrication at its yard in Vung Tau.
“We are proud that SRE has entrusted our consortium with this project, and we will draw on our joint experience in Taiwan to deliver a stellar result,” said Thomas Thomsen, senior vice president at Semco Maritime.
PTSC M&C managing director To Ngoc Tu described the award as a “successful milestone” in the companies’ ongoing collaboration.
Formosa 4 is SRE’s third offshore wind development in Taiwan and is aligned with the Taiwanese government’s policy to promote local content and supply chain development.
This marks the consortium’s third offshore substation contract in Taiwan, following earlier projects at Hai Long and Feng Miao.
