SeAH Wind has entered into a voluntary recognition agreement with the GMB Union to cover collective bargaining for hourly paid manual workers at its offshore wind fabrication facility in Teesworks, northeast England.

Following an election process, the union has appointed four shop stewards to represent the company’s expanding workforce at the site.

Peter Ivey, chief operations officer at SeAH Wind, said the agreement reflects the company’s commitment to employee representation. “Following several positive meetings, we reached a decision to enter into a voluntary recognition agreement with the GMB Union,” Ivey said. “This decision reflects our belief that workers deserve a voice in shaping their workplace and future. By recognising the union voluntarily, we are fostering a culture of mutual respect, transparency, and shared success.”

Andrew Blunt, regional organiser for GMB, described the agreement as a significant step for workers and the company. “Meetings with SeAH Wind have been productive, resulting in reaching agreement over recognition giving GMB members a seat at the table for bargaining on pay terms and conditions,” Blunt said. “This is a major milestone for workers and SeAH Wind.”
