German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex Group said on Tuesday it has received an order to supply turbines for a 112-megawatt (MW) wind project in southern Ecuador, marking the company’s first contract in the country.
The order, placed by an undisclosed developer, includes 19 turbines of the N149/5.X model from Nordex’s Delta4000 series. The first unit is expected to be installed in October 2026, with full commissioning scheduled for March 2027.
“Securing our first project in Ecuador is a significant step in expanding our presence in South America,” a Nordex spokesperson said in a statement.
Once completed, the project is expected to increase Ecuador’s total installed wind power capacity to 181MW.
Nordex did not disclose the value of the contract or the specific location of the wind farm.
