GE Vernova has signed an agreement with German energy cooperative Prokon Regenerative Energien to repower a wind farm in Sachsen-Anhalt, the companies said on Monday.
Under the deal, GE Vernova will supply eight 6-megawatt (MW) turbines for the Fleetmark wind project. The turbines will be manufactured at the company’s 70,000-square-metre facility in Salzbergen, Lower Saxony, which produces components including machine heads, drive trains and hubs for domestic and international markets.
The agreement was finalized in the second quarter of 2025. No financial details were disclosed.
“We are pleased to once again work with Prokon to support their strategy to grow the profitable generation of renewable power and advance Germany’s broader renewable energy goals,” said Gilan Sabatier, Chief Commercial Officer for International Markets at GE Vernova’s onshore wind unit.
“Repowering existing sites produces more power from current wind farms, strengthening their ability to meet local energy needs in a sustainable manner,” he added.
The repowering project comes as Germany continues to expand its renewable energy infrastructure. The country installed around 3.2 gigawatts (GW) of onshore wind capacity in 2024 and aims to reach 80% renewables in its electricity mix by 2030.
Katharina Beyer, board member for project development at Prokon, said the company’s past experience with GE Vernova’s technology influenced the decision.
“Our experiences in Friedersdorf and Langenbach have shown that GE Vernova’s turbines operate reliably and deliver stable yields,” Beyer said. “For us, what matters is not only the technology itself but also a professional and constructive collaboration throughout the entire planning and construction process.”
The Fleetmark project is part of broader efforts to modernize existing wind infrastructure across Germany as the industry shifts toward higher-capacity turbines and improved efficiency.
