Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has completed the acquisition of the Goleniów onshore wind turbine blade facility in Poland from LM Wind Power, a subsidiary of GE Vernova.
The deal, originally announced on May 15, 2025, received all necessary regulatory approvals and has now been finalised, Vestas said on Thursday.
The Goleniów facility, located in north-western Poland, was established in 2009 and expanded in 2017. It will continue to produce blades for Vestasā onshore wind portfolio, including components for the V172-7.2 MW EnVentus turbine.
āStrengthening our manufacturing capacity is essential to meet Europeās need for secure, affordable, and sustainable energy, and expand our industrial competitiveness,ā said Felix Henseler, chief technology and operations officer at Vestas. āThe addition of the Goleniów factory reinforces our commitment to scaling the wind industry and it underlines how Europe can spur wind industry investments and jobs with the right long-term policy commitments for wind energy.ā
Approximately 400 employees from LM Wind Power have been retained as part of the transition, bringing Vestasā total workforce in Poland to nearly 2,000. The company also operates an assembly plant in Szczecin, which produces hubs and nacelles for its V236-15.0 MW offshore wind turbine.
According to the company, the combined capacity of the two Polish sites will enhance its ability to support both onshore and offshore wind markets across Europe and globally.
Hanif Mashal, chief executive of LM Wind Power, said the divestment aligns with the companyās broader business strategy. āThis transaction enables us to simplify our business and reinvest the capital into core EU manufacturing facilities producing GE Vernova wind products to better serve our loyal customer base in the region,ā he said.
