CBED's walk-to-work service operation vessel, Wind Innovation, has been contracted to assist in the commissioning of the Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind farms, which have a capacity of 242MW and 900MW, respectively. This project is scheduled to take place in 2024, following the completion of CBED's current work on the DanTysk and Sandbank offshore developments.
The agreement with Orsted ensures that CBED's vessel will remain fully engaged from the first quarter to the end of the fourth quarter in 2024. As soon as the current contract for the DanTysk and Sandbank projects is finalized in the fourth quarter of 2023, CBED will commence work on the new project, maintaining a high utilization rate for Wind Innovation.
The commissioning of Gode Wind 3 is expected to be completed by the end of 2024, while Borkum Riffgrund 3 is anticipated to be commissioned in early 2025.
CBED's general manager, Daniel Along, expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to collaborate with Orsted once again, this time on a joint project. Along highlighted the standout features of Wind Innovation, such as its 80 single cabins and the option to accommodate a total of 105 guests, emphasizing the vessel's comfort and convenience for individuals working on the wind turbines. The walk-to-work gangway provided by CBED allows guests to access the turbines directly from the vessel.
Furthermore, Wind Innovation's adjustable pedestal gangway will offer flexibility during the project, enabling connection to transition pieces of varying heights across both wind farms involved in the commissioning process.
