German renewable energy developer Energiekontor has achieved financial close on its 94-megawatt Haberloh and Heidkrug wind park projects in Lower Saxony, the company said on Tuesday.
The two neighbouring sites, located in the Verden district, are now ready for construction, with commissioning scheduled for 2027. The projects follow the successful receipt of building permits in August 2024 and subsequent participation in Germany’s Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) EEG tender in May 2025.
The wind farms will be equipped with 13 Vestas V162-7.2 turbines—11 for Haberloh and two for Heidkrug—each with a hub height of 169 metres and rotor diameter of 162 metres. Combined, the sites are expected to generate approximately 217 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity annually, supplying the equivalent of more than 66,000 German households and avoiding over 160,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year.
“With these two projects, we have already brought nine wind and solar projects involving more than 250MW to construction readiness in the current financial year,” said Energiekontor CEO Peter Szabo. “This means 17 projects with over 540MW are now being built.”
Szabo added that the company’s active pipeline includes a mix of projects for its own portfolio and turnkey developments that have already been sold. “Several projects totalling more than 200MW for our own portfolio, as well as a number of turnkey projects that have been sold in Germany, will contribute to the Group’s earnings in the coming years once they are commissioned as planned,” he said.
The Haberloh and Heidkrug wind farms are located between the existing Völkersen wind park, which has already been sold, and the Holtumer Moor wind project, currently under construction.
Environmental measures integrated into the projects include habitat creation for birds of prey, restoration of a standing water body, conversion of former farmland into grassland, and new vegetation planting.
Energiekontor said it continues to evaluate additional projects for future development and aims to secure further financial closes before year-end.
