German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex has secured a contract to supply and install turbines for the 34-megawatt Öhringen-Karlsfurtebene wind farm in Baden-Württemberg, project developer ABO Energy said on Tuesday.
Under the agreement, Nordex will deliver seven N133/4.8 turbines mounted on hybrid towers with a hub height of 164 metres. The order includes a 20-year premium service contract for long-term maintenance.
Installation of the turbines is expected to begin in autumn 2026, with commissioning scheduled for spring 2027.
Located near the city of Öhringen in northeastern Baden-Württemberg, the wind farm will have an installed capacity of 33.6MW and is expected to generate approximately 84 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity annually. According to ABO Energy, this is equivalent to the annual consumption of nearly 25,000 households.
The project is part of Öhringen’s broader climate protection plan, which aims to achieve climate neutrality by 2037. Once operational, the wind farm is projected to offset around 149,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year.
As part of a regional benefit-sharing scheme, neighbouring municipalities located within a 2,500-metre radius of the wind farm will receive payments of €0.002 per kWh produced, allocated based on their share of the project area.
