Offshore wind contractor Seaway7 has been awarded a contract by Synera Renewable Energy (SRE) for the transport and installation of inter-array cables at the 495-megawatt (MW) Formosa 4 offshore wind farm in Taiwan.
Located approximately 20 kilometres off the coast of Miaoli County, the project will feature 35 wind turbine generators. Seaway7’s scope includes the transport and installation of 35 inter-array cables, with offshore operations expected to begin in 2028.
The contract is described as “substantial” by Seaway7’s parent company, Subsea7, which defines such contracts as being valued between $150 million and $300 million.
“We are looking forward to supporting SRE on the Formosa 4 project and being able to continue contributing to the Taiwanese offshore wind targets with our seventh contract award since entering the Taiwanese market in 2019,” said Stuart Fitzgerald, chief executive of Seaway7.
In addition to the Formosa 4 award, Seaway7 has been named preferred contractor for the cable installation scope of the upcoming Formosa 6 offshore wind project. That work involves the transport and installation of 57 inter-array cables, with contract finalisation expected in 2026.
The latest agreements reinforce Seaway7’s presence in the Asia-Pacific offshore wind sector, where Taiwan has set ambitious targets for expanding its renewable energy capacity.
