President Biden’s Veto Upheld to Preserve Solar Tariff Moratorium, Welcomed by Renewable Energy Council

The recent veto by President Biden to halt congressional efforts aimed at repealing the tariff moratorium has been positively received by the American Council on (ACORE).

, the President and Chief Executive of ACORE, expressed appreciation for the President's veto, stating, “President Biden's veto today is a welcome step to avoid a disastrous impact on the economy and ensure continuing progress toward the clean energy transition and our climate goals.”

Wetstone further explained the potential consequences of the Congressional Review Act repeal that was passed by Congress, stating, “The Congressional Review Act repeal passed by Congress would have changed the rules renewable developers and manufacturers rely upon, resulting in many dozens of canceled solar projects, tens of thousands of lost jobs, and a dangerous increase in carbon emissions.”

With the President's intervention, the US solar industry can now look forward to resuming its growth, as Wetstone highlighted, “Thanks to the President's veto, the US solar industry can now resume its growth as we expand our domestic manufacturing base to better meet the growing US demand for solar panels.”
