Qair has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for a 27-megawatt (MW) wind farm in Moldova and secured a second 50MW contract for difference (CfD) for its Cobadin wind project in Romania, the French renewable energy company said.
The Moldovan wind farm is the result of the country’s first competitive renewable energy tender. In Romania, the Cobadin facility, located in the Constanța region, is now backed by two 50MW CfD tranches.
These agreements expand Qair’s wind energy capacity under development in Moldova and Romania to 135.5MW. The company said the projects are ready to enter the construction phase.
Qair noted the increasing alignment between the Moldovan and Romanian markets, both now managed under a single operational framework to allow for more efficient asset coordination.
“Signing this contract in Moldova, combined with our three recent wins in Romania, marks a decisive step for Qair,” said Charles Lhermitte, president of Qair Renewables and Qair Moldova and chief operating officer at Qair Group. “These projects reflect our determination to accelerate the energy transition in Eastern Europe by leveraging synergies between these two strategic markets.”
The company added that its teams in Romania, together with its local partner SEDERA in Moldova, are progressing with land rights, permitting and grid connection for the projects.
Qair said it is applying experience gained in markets including the United Kingdom, Poland, Germany and France to deliver customised wind, solar and energy storage solutions across Eastern Europe.
The company described the developments as part of a broader effort to contribute to a low-carbon energy infrastructure in the region.
