Ignitis Renewables has commenced commercial operations at its 137-megawatt Silesia II wind farm in southern Poland, the company said on Monday.
Located in the Opole Voivodeship region, the facility consists of 38 Nordex N117/3600 turbines and is capable of supplying electricity to approximately 177,000 households annually.
“This is one of the largest wind farms currently operating in Poland,” the company said in a statement.
The total investment in the project, including acquisition and construction costs, is estimated at up to €240 million.
The launch of Silesia II lifts the installed renewable energy capacity of Ignitis Group, the Lithuanian state-controlled parent company, to 2.1 gigawatts, up from 1.9GW previously.
Ignitis Group said the milestone aligns with its long-term growth strategy, which targets an expansion of green generation capacity from 1.4GW in 2024 to between 4GW and 5GW by 2030.
The company noted that the start of commercial operations at Silesia II will not impact its adjusted EBITDA or investment guidance for 2025.
