Vestas has named Felix Henseler as its new Chief Technology and Operations Officer (CTOO), effective 1 September 2025, the Danish wind turbine manufacturer said on Wednesday.
Henseler, formerly CEO of ZF Wind Power, will succeed Anders Nielsen, who is set to retire from day-to-day management at the end of the year after six years in the role. Nielsen has led Vestas’ Power Solutions segment since 2019, overseeing key developments in turbine technology and manufacturing processes.
“Vestas is the leader in wind energy and having worked closely with Vestas for many years as a strategic partner, I’m extremely excited and motivated to take on the role as CTOO,” Henseler said. “The energy industry is impacted by the geopolitical shifts we’re seeing across the globe, and our ability to become even more efficient, competitive and scalable will be decisive to ensure affordable, secure and sustainable energy.”
Vestas said Henseler will focus on accelerating the company’s onshore and offshore manufacturing capacity while enhancing its wind energy solutions portfolio.
Nielsen, who will remain with the company until the end of 2025 to support the leadership transition, highlighted several achievements during his tenure, including the development of the V236-15.0MW offshore turbine and the standardisation of manufacturing processes. “I am proud to hand over a profitable Power Solutions segment,” he said.
Vestas President and CEO Henrik Andersen welcomed Henseler’s appointment, stating he brings “a wealth of industrial experience and wind energy insights” to the role.
In 2024, Vestas merged its technology and manufacturing functions into a unified Technology and Operations organisation to improve industrial scalability and strengthen its end-to-end delivery model. Henseler will join the company’s executive management team and report directly to Andersen.
