Renewable energy developer Zelestra has signed a contract with Indian wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon to supply 381 megawatts (MW) of wind power capacity, supporting its strategy to expand multi-technology renewable energy projects across India.
The deal forms part of Zelestra’s broader plan to begin construction this year on a portfolio including 480MW of wind, 1,450MW of solar, and 150 megawatt-hours (MWh) of battery storage. The capacity will contribute to a recently awarded Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) contract with state-run utility SJVN.
The integrated project—combining wind, solar, and storage technologies—is located in Solapur, Maharashtra, and is scheduled to begin operations in 2027.
“This partnership with Suzlon marks a significant step in our vision to deliver even more ambitious and complex multi-technology renewable energy solutions for our customers across India,” said Sajay KV, chief executive of Zelestra India. “It sets the foundation for delivering our portfolio of 5GW, from our strategically sited and uniquely co-located hybrid projects with interconnection certainty of 2027 and 2028.”
Girish Tanti, vice chairman of Suzlon Group, said, “We are honored to collaborate with Zelestra, a global pioneer in decarbonization, as we collectively propel India towards a sustainable energy future.”
Zelestra said it currently has a pipeline of 5.4 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy projects in India across seven states, of which 1.7GW has been contracted. The company, backed by investor EQT, operates in 13 countries with a total global project portfolio of around 30GW.
Zelestra was recently named among the top 10 global clean energy sellers to corporate buyers by BloombergNEF and ranked second in the Europe, Middle East and Asia region.
